Mays best purchase ever

Last week Tuesday it was finally here. The day I knew would come. And the day I had been waiting for for three months. My braces could come off. I spent two hours in the chair with my favorite dentist Sarah, and then it was done. White, straight teeth. When I look in the mirror, I see a straight-teeth person. And a white-teeth person, because Sarah polished and buffed everything nicely.

I wanted two things. To reward myself AND to make sure everything stays nice, fresh, and white. Enter: a new toothbrush. And not just any old brush, okay. I wanted the best of the best. So I treated myself to the Chanel bag of toothbrushes. The Philips Sonicare DiamondClean Smart. You’ve got me right there.

I’ll start with the message that it’s not cheap. You probably expected that when you heard the name. But I was also in the mood for an expensive toothbrush. Well, mainly in the mood for a good toothbrush. The best of the best is the only thing that is good enough for my new teeth. Moreover, you use it twice a day and it helps maintain your teeth. I will now list why it is worth every euro threefold.

  • It has four brush heads that it recognizes immediately. You choose a brush that fits your desire (for example, whitening or deep clean) and the toothbrush adjusts the cleaning method to the brush.
  • The brush keeps track of whether you are brushing well. With the free app, you can see exactly where you are brushing and where a little extra attention is needed.
  • It has five different settings; you can choose from white, deep clean, gum care (for gums), tongue care (very good for fresh breath), and regular clean. It also indicates when you are pressing too hard, moving back and forth too much, and when your brush needs replacing. Oh yes, after thirty seconds it gives a very small vibrating sound so you know to switch ‘quadrants’. Then another part of the teeth is up next.
  • It charges in a beautiful glass. It all works via induction. A piece of jewelry for your bathroom.
  • It has a very handy case in which you can take it with you. At the bottom of that case is a small cord with which you can also charge the brush while traveling.
  • Then the brush also has three settings with which you can vary in intensity.

Those are the USPs of the brush that made me immediately sold. I hadn’t even heard the results yet.

  • It removes up to 10 times more plaque*
  • Your gums become up to 7 times healthier in two weeks*
  • It is clinically proven that the closely packed bristles remove up to 100% more discolorations and tartar in just 3 days*

    * Compared to a manual toothbrush

Maybe you think €329 is a lot of money for a toothbrush, but you spend it quite easily on your umpteenth little black dress and a new cardigan. This is an investment in your teeth, the most beautiful accessory that you have. If you keep it up a bit, at least. That’s why I thought this was the absolute best gift I could give myself.
