NETFLIX ORIGINALS 2017

Yeheesss, emails like this make the new year start off great for me. We can enjoy more than 1000 hours of Netflix Originals this year, as I saw in my inbox this week. That's more than 40 days long non-stop binge-watching. Medal for you if you can keep that up, you know.

Netflix is doing well when it comes to ‘original series’. I mention Stranger Things, Orange Is the New Black, House of Cards... All of them super successful. And they are not only known for their good series, no, there was also a very good Netflix Original Movies offering: Barry, Special Correspondents and The Do-Over for example. Long story short: team Netflix spends a lot, but also brings in quite a bit. And in the new year, we can enjoy Netflix & Chill again. Here are a few examples:

Okja

This is the story of a young girl, Mija, who does everything to ensure that her best friend is not kidnapped. And oh yes, that best friend is Okja, a gigantic beast. Familiar faces you encounter in this film include Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton, and Lily Collins.

Our Souls At Night

Golden oldies Robert Redford and Jane Fonda are reunited again. They play two neighbors who, after living next to each other for years, finally have real contact. You might think: mehhh, sounds boring, but if we are to believe Netflix, this is a beautiful and touching film that should be on your Netflix bucket list.

David Brent: Life on the Road

I am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais. He is brilliant. Were you also a fan of The Office with Steve Carell? Then you definitely need to see the original British version with Ricky. As I said: bril-liant. This film is about his character David Brent from The Office, searching for success in the music industry. Hilarious.

Mute

Story of a bartender, played by the Swedish hunk Alexander Skarsgård, in the always vibrant Berlin. But due to a traumatic past, he can no longer speak. The bright spot in his life is his girlfriend, but suddenly she disappears without a trace and his search for his sweetheart begins. You want to see this.

The Discovery

And again we can enjoy Robert Redford. By the way, did you know he is the original Gatsby from the 1974 film? Nice, that Leonardo DiCaprio, but Robert, well, no one does it like him. What is The Discovery about? A scientist, Robert, discovers that the afterlife exists. Attach a love story to it and you have another Netflix hit.

More movies we can expect from Netflix? Here they come:

– ‘Bright’ with Will Smith

– ‘War Machine’ with Brad Pitt

– ‘First They Killed My Father’ directed by Angelina Jolie.

2017, I already love you.
