bye bye fur
Hugo Boss, Armani, de Bijenkorf and our friend Zara each choose a fur-free policy. And to be honest; of course everyone is entitled to an opinion on this, but personally I find the difference between faux fur and real fur so incredibly small that as far as I'm concerned, real fur is anything but a must-have for the fashion girls among us. Animal suffering for a fur collar or coat? Not for me. And fortunately, more and more brands and designers agree with that. But not all of them yet, as there are still plenty of designer pieces that walk the catwalk in real fur straight into the arms of the fashionistas and can then be added to the online wishlist of the fashion birds.
Well, that second option might become a bit more difficult now.. Because if it’s up to YOOX Net-A-Porter Group, they would prefer to see no fur at all coming from the catwalk. And precisely for that reason, Net-A-Porter, Mr Porter, YOOX, and The Outnet have just decided to adopt a fur-free policy. By signing a statement, YNAP has promised not to sell fur anymore, and thus it is on the Fur-Free List of Fur for Animals. And then the request for the ban on exotic skins as we speak is also on its way to the boardroom of Hermès. Will it all really happen? My heart isn't skipping a beat today for a new designer bag or coat; this time it's my fashion heart that beats for the animals.
