At Jean George, you usually dine or have lunch with more than 15 courses. But there is also another option: the lobby for à la carte lunch. With a view of a sunny Central Park, a glass of white wine, and the best tuna tartare in the city, we can get through Saturday just fine. The whole restaurant is filled with people who, nodding at their plates, enjoy their lunch just as much as we do.
Our Monday starts early with lots of coffee and ends with a final appointment and a tea while the sun slowly darkens the most beautiful skyline in the world. At William Vale in Williamsburg, the terrace has been made winter-ready. So it’s a bit bare, but that doesn’t matter, because the view remains just as stunning as always.
Taking the ferry to Dumbo and enjoying an aesthetic cappuccino in the coffee café of 1 hotel. Almost as aesthetic as the lobby…
With my girlfriend S, we run through the halls of Rockefeller Center, up the escalator, down the escalator, around the corner to the left, immediately right, and then another elevator. It feels like a maze. But eventually, we end up where we need to be. With mini bottles of prosecco and a view of the tree. This is the first Christmas Lighting I’m really attending, and with the flick of the lights, Christmas is officially here. And it feels that way too.
