Exactly a week ago I was at Devocion with my dearest friend from the west coast. Armed with cappuccinos with hearts and laptops, we sat at a tiny table. It felt like we were back in time for a moment. We used to sit like this during school exams and exam weeks, pretending to work really hard just like back then. After three Colombian coffees, we bounced through Brooklyn, the laptops now put away. Half of the to-do list is crossed off. Now only one thing remains: the dress. Of course, my dearest friend is our bridesmaid. I really hate that word. When I think of bridesmaid, I really picture a little girl in a lace white dress with a basket of rose petals. And none of the bridesmaids at our wedding are like that. One by one, they are the absolute best and most beautiful and will be the bridesmaids. I certainly won't be putting them all in the same dress, but they definitely have to be va-va-voom. And so we set off. With a hundred dresses, we entered the fitting room and came out with one winner. Goodness, what an amazing dress my dearest friend from the west coast has. And of course, we had a glass to celebrate that.
In Soho, I parade in suits made by a very nice designer. I will definitely come back to this, because for now it’s still a secret project. But we were also in Soho for pasta, antipasta, and a surprise cake with candles for Jane's birthday at Il Buco, still my favorite restaurant on Bond Street. And the day after, we will have that cake again, if only because Blue also has to celebrate that Aunt Jane has turned another year older.
On Tuesday, Blue has to go to the doctor for two shots and his annual check-up. With a dripping nose, he sits nervously on the table. He doesn't like these kinds of visits at all. Fortunately, we are home quickly and he can recover from the stress on his throne with a cushion from us.
Less than 50 days to go and then it will finally happen. Then those rings we bought on the only balcony on the Ponte Vecchio will finally go on. The nerves are kicking in, but oh, I am so looking forward to it!
The sun colors the sky pink. We buy wine at the liquor store with the slurping dinosaur. The weekend is here. And that is nice. Enjoy and see you next week!
