The clock has struck well past noon. I'm still sitting where I was when I woke up: the right corner of the couch. My phone is on the charger and I'm still in my pajamas. Even my first cappuccino of the day hasn't been made yet. I go from tears in my eyes to laughter, to intense feelings of happiness, to all the possible WhatsApp groups that have anything to do with our wedding. The photos, they are there. Oh Alice, how magical you are. In who you are and in what you do. This photographer is an artist. She knows exactly how to capture those moments that matter. The emotion, the magic, the atmosphere; she knows how to capture them all without directing anything. I give you this photo, and on my Instagram there will surely be a few posted as well. But actually, I think they should be in a magazine. Not for myself - absolutely not, I prefer to share less than more lately - but for the amazing team we worked with. From the chef and our dearest Lotte, Fabienne from The Wedding Chapter to the florist and of course Alice Mahran. They deserve a stage for all their beautiful work.
Okay, one more then, accompanied by a piece of advice: better a hundred fewer flowers than no hundred amazing photos. Really, if you have to make choices for your wedding, I advise you to always choose to invest in photography. That is the only thing that is still tangible after your big day. And unfortunately, this is one of the most precious elements of a wedding, but believe me: you don't want to skimp on this. Then choose a hundred fewer flowers or maybe even none at all. Photography is so important. As I wrote earlier: it is the only tangible thing after your big day and something that makes you instantly return to your day, no matter how long ago it was.
Schutz sends me ‘Rainbow Vibes’. With all the rainbows we see here from the many centimeters of summer rain, it fits perfectly. With an XL coffee from my old coffee bar in Eataly, I walk by all the places where I used to be daily until last Christmas before I go to the hairdresser. I'm back in Flatiron, our old neighborhood. I miss it, but also not. This is where our adventure began and that will always remain special. But Brooklyn is our future. A beautiful one, and that's nice. Especially with all those rainbows that we can admire from our window time and again.
I'm addicted to coffee. And now I read this week that people who drink coffee live longer. Aha! So it's actually good for you. Those three cups a day, that's possible, or no, it must even be now. This week I ordered one in Soho, in the garden of Crosby Street Hotel. And they came with hearts at Cecconi’s Dumbo in Brooklyn.
