ADVERTORIAL
START YOUR MORNING WITH SOY
That an hour of gym is standard in my morning routine is nothing new to you. But besides lifting those weights, we know that there are more things important to feel good in your skin. Think of a good night's sleep, but also getting enough protein contributes to a summerproof feeling. Now, after my detox, I've retained some vegan cravings and since then I often find it quite a puzzle to get those proteins in. Previously, I reached for that pot of quark, the cottage cheese, a chicken breast, or a piece of salmon. Because yes, we all know that these are huge protein bombs. So what is left if you leave all these animal products in the fridge?
“The most important thing? It's packed with protein.”
Since that detox, I have a new favorite (and I secretly borrowed a little from Ellen Hoog, who is also a huge fan of it). Because on the days when my fridge contains nothing but vegetables, fruit, meat substitutes, and other plant-based products, Alpro is my best friend. Alpro soy products generally contain less saturated fats and more unsaturated fats than comparable animal-derived products.* In addition, they usually contain even more fiber. Moreover, the products are easily digestible, as they are naturally lactose-free. The most important thing? They are packed with protein. Soy contains all essential amino acids; the amino acids that your body does not produce itself and that you therefore need to obtain from your diet. And Alpro is not only very kind to your body, the products are also better for Mother Earth, which I find very nice.** The cultivation of soy requires significantly less water and land area, and therefore significantly less CO2 gases are emitted than is the case with animal products.
What are you waiting for? Tomorrow morning a round of butt training AND a smoothie from my favorite:
– 200 ml Alpro soy unsweetened
– Half a banana (tip: freeze overripe bananas so you always have a banana at home for your smoothie in the morning)
– 1 tbsp oatmeal
– tsp cinnamon
– 1.5 tbsp almond paste
– 1 tsp chia seeds
Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend until you get a creamy smoothie. Trust me, you want this smoothie.
*Plant-based foods are generally low in saturated fat. Reducing the consumption of saturated fat contributes to the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels in the blood. A varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle are important for good health.
