THE COOLEST COFFEE SHOPS

Are you, like me, a true diehard coffee fan? And do you secretly feel butterflies in your stomach when you see a barista (with tattoos and a beard) passionately working with the coffee machine? Then the Westergasterrein is where you need to be this weekend. A whole weekend of tasting coffee at the Amsterdam Coffee Festival.

Are you also a coffee lover and crazy about all those cute coffee shops in Amsterdam? I can't imagine life without good coffee. Really... If I don't have a cup before nine in the morning, I turn into a sort of grumpy cat. So in every neighborhood of Amsterdam, I now know the best hotspots for a good cup of coffee.

In this blog, I've gathered my favorite coffee hotspots in Amsterdam so you can try them all too. And please let me know if there's a nice hotspot missing. I'm always up for discovering new places, after all.

Amsterdam-East

Stooker Roasting Company

It's definitely worth the bike ride. At Stooker, they love green coffee beans. Throughout the year, different beans from various countries are used, so your coffee will never taste the same. If you want to dive deeper into the world of coffee, the Stooker Coffee Academy might be something for you. Here, you develop your coffee knowledge and prepare yourself to become a real barista.

Amsterdam-North

The Coffee Virus

The coffee hotspot in North. Settle down here with your laptop for the ideal workspace with the perfect cup of coffee. You have a choice of two espresso roasts and three filter roasts.

Amsterdam-West

Lot Sixty One

If you're not careful, you'll almost bike past it; small but very nice. I not only settle here for the best coffee, but I also do it secretly for the baristas who make those coffees. Busted. The standard roast of Lot Sixty One contains beans from Brazil and El Salvador that together create a dark but fruity coffee. And oh yes, sucker for soy lattes: get it, you’ll never want to leave. Lot Sixty One also serves its roast at The Hoxton, in case there's no space...

Amsterdam-South

Anne & Max

This cozy spot opens its doors every day at eight o'clock, ideal for the early birds among us. Besides the fact that they are known for their delicious coffee, this hotspot is also perfect for freelancers who want to huddle behind their laptop while enjoying a nice cup.

De Pijp

Scandinavian Embassy

You have to be here for good coffee and treats to go with the coffee. My favorite? The Ethiopian drip coffee. Drink it pure, you'll make friends with that.

Bakers & Roasters

Run by a super nice couple from New Zealand and, in my opinion, one of the brunch hotspots in the city.

City Center

Bocca

The Simons brothers are the only ones in the Netherlands with Bocca who manage the entire process of selecting, purchasing, shipping, tasting, roasting, and packaging themselves. So they not only serve delicious coffee here, but you can also take your bag of beans home with you.
