THE STRANGEST DIETS
THAT YOU CAN DO

As we speak, cheesecake is being handed out in the editorial office. White chocolate cheesecake with raspberry, to be precise. You can't make this up, right? It's January second, dear friends, day two of the new year when we have all started on our New Year's resolutions. And then white chocolate cheesecake is placed right in front of you. I hear sighs on the left, curses on the right. Because how can you say no to that? There go the New Year's resolutions. Because let's be honest: we all do it, especially after the holidays. Complaining that we've gained weight and wondering how to lose those kilos the fastest. We scour the internet in search of the best diet and then you come across the strangest things. Because people go far, very far when it comes to shedding those necessary kilos. I gathered the strangest diets for you.

Don’t try this at home.

1. Baby food diet

Eat fourteen jars of baby food every day and easily lose two clothing sizes in no time. All from Olvarit.

2. Mono diet

During this diet, you may eat only one type of food per meal. And no, my friend, I'm not talking about unlimited fries or chicken nuggets. A plate full of tomatoes or broccoli, that you can have. The idea behind this diet is that you don't make ‘wrong’ combinations, which ultimately helps you lose weight. I love broccoli, don't get me wrong, but I think I'll skip this one.

3. Tongue Patch

In Mexico, they go very far to get a size smaller. In this diet, a small patch is attached to your tongue. This makes it extremely painful to have solid food in your mouth and chew it, causing you to naturally choose liquid food. Why not just go for the juice cleanse right away?

4. Sun eating

With this diet, instead of sitting at the kitchen table during lunch, you sit outside on a chair for an hour. During that hour, you look, of course with your eyes closed, in the direction of the sun. This way, you fill your stomach with solar energy instead of that slice of cheese. Well, this one might be a bit tricky in our rainy frog country.

5. Moon diet

You can follow the moon diet (or werewolf diet) in two ways: the basic diet or the diehard version. The basic version is a 24-hour day, during which you fast and only drink water and juice, during the full moon or new moon. This way, you cleanse your body of toxins. The extended version goes a bit further. It starts with fasting during the full moon and then you follow a nutrition plan for the different phases of the moon: full moon, waning moon, new moon, and waxing moon. For example, during the waning moon, you may not eat after 6:00 PM, and during the waxing moon, you eat small portions and fatty foods are off-limits.

6. Wasp waist diet

In France, ladies simply tie a tight ribbon around their waist. At the moment they start eating, quite a bit of tension builds up, causing them to stop immediately. Well, it's a way, of course.

7. Cabbage soup diet

A soup made of broth, cabbage, carrot, and some fresh herbs. Nothing more, nothing less. Seven days long with an occasional piece of fruit for variety, but it doesn't get much more exciting than that. You lose a lot of fluid and the necessary kilos, but you also miss out on a lot of nutrients.

8. Tissue diet

Believe it or not, but there are people who chew on a tissue for every meal and swallow it. If you prefer a handful of cotton, that works too. The tissue gives you an immediate feeling of fullness, but it is not digested. And that's where it goes wrong. Anything but healthy.

9. Tapeworm diet

‘Do you have a tapeworm or something?’ A typical question asked when someone can eat whatever they want without gaining a single gram. There are indeed people who voluntarily have a tapeworm inserted to lose those extra kilos. Not very healthy, as this parasite can cause infections, pain, and muscle damage.
