The world reacts to Barcelona

Thursday evening. The Spanish evening is warm, almost sultry, and there is a breeze from the sea. The place where it is pleasantly busy and all kinds of people come together is suddenly disrupted. On La Rambla in Barcelona, a car drives into the crowd. An attack. Again. On the kilometers-long promenade where I, and you perhaps too, walked among the living statues and overpriced terraces. First Paris, Nice, Berlin, Manchester, then London, and now Barcelona. Fourteen dead and over a hundred victims with thirty-four nationalities. So sad and so close.

Spain announced three days of national mourning and the Spanish football teams will hold a minute of silence this weekend. The world reacts in shock and the reactions from celebrities are also forthcoming.

Jennifer Lopez:

“Sending you much love and peace to the great city of Barcelona and all its beautiful people.”
