There I was, with my salad on my lap on the way to Paris. I can't help it, but I have a slight allergy to airplane, gas station, or other on-the-go food. Because more than a damp sandwich with slimy ham, gummy cheese, and wilted lettuce leaves is often not what you get. I am the queen of prepping or at least going well prepared on a trip. Because yes, if you have to sit in a car for six hours, you want to have some snacks within reach. So I quickly stopped by my friends at SLA for a well-filled bowl of salad before we dove into the Renault with all the Amayzers for our school trip Paris.

The Foodmaker
Not necessarily a salad bar, but definitely a spot I’m very happy with. The Foodmaker is a Belgian family business that has been around since 1925. The dishes are healthy and often organic. Part of the products for the dishes is grown by the chain itself on its own piece of land. You can go here for well-filled healthy salads, sandwiches, and treats.

Salad bar HAKA is the first 100% gluten-free and organic salad bar in the Netherlands. Don't leave without trying the vegan fritter.

NIJMEGEN

MUNT

In the center of Nijmegen, you will find this cozy lunchroom where you can eat a healthy meal. You can also take it away. Everything is made in-house and comes as much as possible from the organic corner. The vegetables and fruits come from the Nijmegen area to help local growers.

The Salad Bar in Maastricht is the place to be when you want to eat healthily or could use some extra energy. It takes a bit of searching, but once you find it, you won't forget this hotspot anytime soon.
