Body & Mind

These spice jars should not be missing in your kitchen

Yes girlfriends, I have a house. And not entirely unimportant: it comes with a garden. I have been dreaming for nights about tanning sessions in the garden (if the sun ever shows up again), barbecue parties, and sidewalk chalk festivals. But as I already let you know; my big dream is to have a vegetable garden and an herb garden. And those are going to happen. Herbs are absolutely essential in my kitchen. They make your food just a bit more flavorful, and by using the right herbs, you can minimize the addition of salt. Moreover, most herbs also have medicinal properties. It's high time for a lesson in choosing herbs. These jars are standard in my kitchen.

Basil

The base of the well-known pesto. And with a good pesto, you can put an incredibly delicious pasta on the table in just a few minutes. But this little plant is not only indispensable in your dishes, it also looks very cozy in front of your kitchen window. Basil has anti-inflammatory properties and is good for digestion.

Dill

The fish lover knows that a fish without dill is not complete. The herb has a relaxing effect and is therefore beneficial for your sleep, and it is also rich in vitamin C.

Sage

With this super medicinal herb, you can whip up the tastiest and simplest pasta in no time. Fresh ravioli with butter-sautéed sage leaves, topped with fresh parmesan shavings, and you have a heavenly meal. But sage is not only intensely delicious, it improves your digestion, has a relaxing effect, and is good for your memory. Sage is my favorite.

Tarragon

Tarragon is also good for digestion and is your greatest natural friend during menstruation. Tarragon works very well against cramps. It is delicious with fish, but also a chicken from the oven with pickled lemon, butter, and fresh tarragon is one big party.

Oregano

Your traditional Italian dish is not complete without oregano. It has pain-relieving and disinfecting properties.

Turmeric

Marion already gave you a whole sermon about this yellow wonder drug. The herb is incredibly popular in curries but is also the base of this delicious sleep drink.

Rosemary

Long and heavy day ahead? Use rosemary! It stimulates your memory and your brain. Additionally, it helps to eliminate waste products faster and is the flavor enhancer for roasted potatoes or on a goat cheese from the oven.

Thyme

Thyme, the antibiotic among herbs due to its bactericidal and fungicidal properties. Delicious with braised meat, but also as a base in pasta sauces, this leaf does well.

“Guess how many fresh ginger teas fly out of the kitchen daily? Fifty, MINIMUM.”

Ginger

The hit in the editorial office. Guess how many fresh ginger teas fly out of the kitchen daily? Fifty, MINIMUM. This root is therefore in high demand. Ginger is not only a natural anti-inflammatory, but it also works against nausea, headaches, and bloating.

Cinnamon

Well, of course, only praise for this. Because you know: I put this brown stuff on EVERYTHING. No little jar of cinnamon in my cupboard, but a jar of 500 grams. I'm not exaggerating. Did you know that cinnamon is delicious in everything? I even stir it into my tomato sauce or couscous. Cinnamon is packed with polyphenols. These antioxidants protect your body from damage by free radicals and keep your blood sugar levels stable.
