This is how you wear lingerie on the outside
Lingerie has always been important. Even if you didn't see it, you wanted to wear a nice set. Because of the saying: suppose you end up in the hospital, you still want to look a bit pretty, from our mothers. And also Diane Vreeland in mind who said that you move more beautifully when everything is done (toenails painted even if you don't see them, shoe soles polished and banknotes ironed) and a nice set is part of that. In recent years, underwear has crawled to the top. The pajama look is in and lingerie is a part of our look.
You need to be careful because the line between just right and ‘a bit too much’ is thin. This weekend I had the opportunity to lead an event for the Swiss lingerie brand Hanro at De Bijenkorf. You probably know it. The brand worn by Oprah Winfrey, Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, Adèle, Serena and Venus Williams, and even the Vatican is a major customer. Hanro provides stylish underwear. The quality is perfect and what I really like is that it supports without pinching. It conforms to your body, is made from the best (and thinnest) material, and if possible, delivered without seams. That way, you really don't see your underwear and that bra that supports but doesn't have a thick underwire feels nice. You recognize Hanro underwear by the satin trim, and later by the fact that that black really stays black. Anyway. To show how to incorporate that underwear into your look, Marjo Kranenborg, stylist and personal shopper at De Bijenkorf, put together a number of beautiful looks. Since you weren't all there, I'm sharing her tips with you anyway.
1. The satin pajama pants, here's how to wear them
“It took some getting used to after the dictate of skinny jeans, but now everything can really fall loose and big. Also the pants. The kimono and pajama pants have become real current items that you can comfortably wear during the day. For a tough and unexpected combination, I combined the satin pajama pants from Hanro with a chunky knitted wool sweater. Perfect for home by the fireplace but also suitable for work.” What I really liked about these pajama pants is that they have pockets (which I love) and are nice and smooth at the front and have elastic at the back. You could also wear them with a nice top and a blazer for the evening.
2. Here's how to wear that sheer top
“There are many beautiful transparent tops, but many women find it difficult to decide what to wear underneath. A skin-colored bra isn't really attractive, and you don't always feel like wearing a statement bra. A tank top underneath takes away the effect. The solution is the 3D woven bra from Hanro. I am really impressed with this bra. It is light but strong, and it seems like you can see through it when you hold it in your hand, but when you wear it, you really see nothing. Not even a nipple. That's why I think this is the perfect bra for under a transparent statement top.”
3. As few straps as possible
“There are moments when you want to wear both a bra and a tank top. Because it's warmer or because your sweater itches a bit on your skin. Many women find those two layers uncomfortable, and besides, you then have double straps that can be seen through your top. Hanro has a beautiful subtle top with an integrated bra. Still the support but otherwise just one layer and one strap. It's a beautiful corset top that can also be worn very well under a jacket.”
4. Show your bra
“Not always, but sometimes yes. I think it's beautiful when you wear a chunky knitted sweater with a slightly wide neckline where you can see the bra strap well. Especially if it matches the outfit nicely in color.”
5. The body
“The body is nice because everything stays in place. Hanro has a beautiful green one with a nice pattern where a play of lines of transparent strips can be seen. Transparent but you see nothing else. The body is nice and long, so it fits comfortably. Perfect for under a jacket or a nice big cardigan.”
6. What to pay attention to
“Get good advice. From a professional. Even adjusting the bra strap can make a world of difference. And feel the quality. With products that stay beautiful, you will enjoy them for a long time and have fun every time you wear them. What I also want to mention; the black from Hanro really stays black. Year after year.”
So I'm convinced because I also find Hanro affordable. And we all want to belong to the club of Oprah, Adèle, and Nicole Kidman, right? I smell an upcoming app group.
