Metallic

My fashion mission is to talk everyone out of their comfort zone every now and then, myself included. Nothing is more fun than a statement shoe, a bright color, or a striking print. This season, you really can't avoid ‘something’ metallic. And I'm not alone in that. I called Iris Gravemaker, stylist at Omoda, and she completely agrees with me.

Metallic, tell me everything.

‘It’s really the accessory trend of this summer. You can find it in various colors: in silver, gold, and rose, but also in emerald green and bright pink.’

How do you wear this trend?

‘Personally, I think it’s really cool if you dare to go all the way, but most people will use it as an accessory. So a metallic shoe, bag, belt, or jacket. You see it a lot on the catwalk and it will still be around this winter, as we saw at the fall/winter shows of Chanel and Louis Vuitton. So it’s worth investing in, because this trend will stick around for a while.’

How do you combine it?

‘It’s really an eye-catcher when you combine it with basics. Omoda has metallic loafers in pink from PS Poelman and I really like the loafer slides (the mule with an open heel) in a metallic shade from our own brand. And of course, the sandal with the block heel is also a real must-have. We also sell a great golden loafer from Tommy Hilfiger.’

Who rocks this trend?

‘Cara Delevingne wears metallic sneakers, Instagram-it girl Veronika Heilbrunner has great metallic loafers, and Giovanna Battaglia goes all the way in metallic; very bold but wonderfully inspiring.’
