The Nude Shoe
It is spring. Maybe not officially yet, but it's just a matter of waiting a little bit longer. Our socks are ready for their summer sleep and our toes are begging for daylight. To ensure that you and your feet are completely on top of the trend, I called Iris Gravemaker, stylist at Omoda.
The nude trend, tell me everything.
“One of the trends at the moment is the nude trend. This color trend can be seen in all kinds of shoes; from sandals to sneakers to cowboy boots. Within those natural colors, we see a lot of beautiful, soft pastels in both clothing and shoes.”
“You for the high heels, Gigi for the sneaker and Tilda Swinton for the loafer.”
How do you combine those?
“You can combine this trend in many ways. You can opt for a total nude look where everything, from clothing to shoes, has soft colors. I also think it looks nice when you combine it with brown, it gives a bit of the Chloé feeling. But this trend can also be worn under jeans. If you want a bit more edge, you can combine it with silver or metallic, for example in a jacket or a bag.”
Who rocks this trend?
“You for the high heels, Gigi for the sneaker and Tilda Swinton for the loafer.”
How do you transform a daytime outfit into your evening wear?
“During the day you wear a suit with a neat blouse underneath and a soft pink loafer as a shoe, in the evening you add plenty of accessories, possibly take off the blouse and replace the loafers with a heel.’
What are your personal favorites from the collection?
“The powder pink loafer from our own brand. That can go under a dress, suit, deconstructed jeans, and a black outfit that you can sketch me in. I'm also crazy about the mint green Reebok sneakers and the beige bag from Shabbies that has a really cool handle. Furthermore, the lace-up sandals that you can tie around your ankles and that you also have in ballerina version are very much in this season. Also the ballerinas from Fred de la Bretoniere and heels from Guess. Finish it off with a nude-colored polish on your toe for an open toe. That way, you're always good to go and it's nice and practical for summer.”
