WHAT TO DO THIS WEEKEND
by Theo Bakana
Hey there, hungover folks. How are you doing today? Is it manageable? Or are you thinking: no way José am I ever going to consume alcohol again. I must admit that I'm back on track with it. This morning I could have played a leading role in the new Grunge movie, but as you know, time heals all wounds, including hangovers. And besides: it nicely breaks up the week; King's Night on Wednesday and then keep going on Thursday. Actually, we shouldn't complain, because this Friday is also looking a bit like a waste of time, as another fresh weekend is already waiting for us. What can you do? Especially as little as possible, because psst... Friday is already Liberation Day.
For all the right reasons
I was talking about being calm, right? Well, I'm giving you calm, or as they say in The Hague: rustâââg. Because what is more ‘soothing for the soul’ than a good session of meditation? Where the Museumplein was still filled with an orange crowd yesterday, this coming Sunday is a whole different story. Between 12:00 and 13:00, you can completely relax during a large meditation event: The Mass Meditation for all the right reasons. Maybe a bit a far-from-your-bed-show, but fun to try out once. And of course for all the right reasons that are not explained very explicitly, but so be it. It's definitely something different than just lounging around. So if you need some extra recharge time for the new week, you know where to be. I'm already starting to practice my hummmmmmm... Oh yes, and it's free, for zero, nada, niente, arriba.
Does that work for you?
The next activity also falls into the category of calm, but hey, I warned you, on Monday you will be grateful to me. On Saturday, you can go to The Hague for a flower arranging course with Bloomon. Is that too far for you? Then you can go to the Conservatorium Hotel in Amsterdam for a real tulip pop-up store in collaboration with Menno Kroon (just between us: that's the go-to flower shop of our editorial team). You can immediately toast to the fact that the Conservatorium Hotel is getting its own tulip. With spa red, remember? Calmly...
Sushi & Cruisin’
Now I'm going to make it a little tricky for you, just a tiny bit. On Sunday, besides meditating at the Museumplein, you can also hop on the C.R.U.I.S.E. ferry. I don't think I need to say more. You board on Sunday at 12 o'clock at the Central Station in Amsterdam and sail from 12:15 to 16:00 while you can indulge in a FIVE-course sushi brunch. Five whole courses. In addition, there will also be some extra entertainment, and you can relax in one of the lounges. Look, look, look, are you coming?
From trading comes crying
Yesterday, did you not sit shivering on a blanket, but still have a whole bunch of clothes that you are actually never going to wear again? No worries. In Utrecht, the Fashion Revolution Week is organizing the annual clothing swap. The only thing you need to do is bring at least ten clothing items (and yes, you can also bring your partner's). This way, you're kind to your wallet, doing a bit of recycling, and you also keep something nice for your closet. Maybe not entirely the intention if you're just starting to do that spring cleaning but hey, at least you don't have to pay for your new items. Just stay critical, okay? We don't want you ending up sobbing on the sidelines.
So, I think you are heading for a nice weekend without being too exhausted to show up on Monday. If you have any tips, they are always welcome at theo@amayzine.com. And for now, just relax, it will be tomorrow again soon. Have a great weekend!
And now all together in chorus: Thank you, Willem, thank you, Willem, Willem, Willem, thank you.
