Drinking wine makes you thin

It is my honor to bring you the best news today before we roll into the weekend. We need to drink a bit more, girlfriend, at least, I should put the bottle on the table more often. People who drink certain types of alcohol in moderation would have a lower chance of developing type 2 diabetes than those who drink other amounts of alcohol. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes and a major problem worldwide. No less than nine out of ten people with diabetes have type 2+ which is incredibly high. And it doesn't have to be a problem because you can actually do something about it yourself.

The research was conducted by our northern neighbors and lasted no less than five years. The Danish researchers calculated on over 1800 people which level of alcohol consumption has the lowest chance of resulting in diabetes. It emerged that fourteen alcoholic drinks for men and nine for women (per week yes, not per day) would have the most favorable effect of all drinking amounts. Men have a 43 percent lower chance of diabetes at this amount of alcohol, women 58 percent.

Now you are probably wondering what you can best fill your glass with. I understand. Men who drank between one and six beers per week saw their chance of the disease shrink by 21 percent. For women, no association between beer and diabetes was found, but there was a difference when it came to drinking liqueur. Women who consumed seven or more units of liqueur weekly saw their chance of the disease increase by 83 percent. Unfortunately, that little glass of Baileys (of which half is ice) that you sip on the couch in the evening is just as bad as a bag of chips. Too bad.

Now you are wondering what you can best put on the table. Well, that bottle of Chardonnay then. Both men and women showed a reduced chance of diabetes when they drank seven or more glasses of wine per week. Per week, yes. Men saw their chance of getting the disease decrease by 25 percent and women by 30 percent. Now, that doesn't mean you can go completely wild on unhealthy food. Of course, it also matters what you have on your plate.

But hey, even a plate of steamed broccoli becomes a party with a glass of your favorite, right, May? I'm going to open the bottle, cheers.
