Why Jane Fonda is my new style icon

Yes, you read that right. The 79-year-old lady and star of the Netflix hit Grace and Frankie is my new style icon. I have temporarily parked my muses Erin Wasson and Kate Bosworth, because Jane is doing some crazy things with me fashion-wise. And I know that when our sales director reads this, she will laugh at me hard, but I kid you not, Jane Fonda à la 2016/2017 is hot. And I'm not talking about her famous workout outfits from all her old workout videos – I might actually want to watch those videos because holy hell, I want to look like that when I approach eighty. Anyways, let me break it down for you, there are a few things I have learned from Jane:

Green, greener, greenest

A color you could never find in my wardrobe until I spotted Madame Fonda in a full-on green look by Elie Saab on the red carpet. The scarf wasn’t really necessary for me, but green: my new favorite color for autumn.

Forever flare

Goodbye skinny jeans, hello wide pants with high waists. I'm almost at the point of throwing away all my skinnies, because high waists with flare make you look taller and slimmer. Okay, Jane goes for a slightly more classic look, but throw on a nice oversized sweater that you tuck into your pants or a shirt with a cool print, and then still a checkered coat with it and you are completely ready for autumn.

White, hot and oversized

I currently have a hat obsession. I don’t leave the house without something on my head, only what I was missing in my collection (which is really dramatic if you’ve lived a large part of your life in Paris) was a beret. And then I saw Jane. Jane with an oversized white beret, a striped shirt, and a bright blue Chanel bag: the epitome of a French lady. So you understand: I want all of that now too.

Print on print on print

What do you wear when you're a guest on Ellen? Yellow pants with snake print and a Versace-like, oversized blouse. Never thought I would say this in my life, but I love it and it must go straight into my closet.

Sharp in a suit

Makes my tomboy heart happy. Women walking the red carpet in suits instead of always in evening gowns. This time thanks to Zuhair Murad, the man behind this way too cool white tuxedo. I want it.

Conclusion: who would have ever thought that it would be (of all people) Jane who would bring more color and print into my wardrobe? And maybe a workout outfit from Jane Fonda from the eighties will come in handy after all, Halloween is around the corner, I can surely do something fun with it...
