Why Kate Middleton never wears nail polish


For the observant viewers, it may have already been noticed: the Duchess of Cambridge has never been spotted in public with a nice color on her nails. Except on her wedding day, of course. Then she decided to go for a subtle manicure. But unlike Queen Elizabeth, who is known for her loyalty to the color Ballet Slippers by Essie, Kate goes au naturel.

It turns out, after some research by the British team of Marie Claire, that it is strictly forbidden to walk around with brightly colored nails if you are part of the royal family. Only light, natural colors may be worn during official events.

Kate herself may not be such a fan of it and may not be allowed to, but here at the editorial office, everyone is polished every day, preferably in a color that can be seen. The shade that is currently doing particularly well? Anything that falls into the brown category, very fitting for autumn. So here are the office favorites:
