Why this should be your first car
Your first car should be fun above all else. Because wow, you just got your driver's license and you can go wherever you want. No more begging your brother to take you to the city and no more dealing with drafty stations where the train is always delayed. Your own world, your own music, your own snacks, your own bottle of water, your own key to the rest of the world. Or at least everything that is reachable.
I had my car, a Renault 5 that I still melt for when I see it somewhere, ready for half a year. When I got my pink paper (yes, nothing was laminated), I got into my petite voiture and just drove a little. Zeeland seemed fun, but it went so well that I suddenly found myself in Paris.
Your first car, in short, is your entry to the rest of the world. Or at least to Europe. If I were 18 now, the Renault Twingo my first boyfriend on the road would be. He meets all the criteria that a first love must meet.
1. He is cute
When you see him, you smile. That's nice for yourself, but it earns you even more points. People are nicer to you on the road. You can merge while the yield signs are definitely on your side, you can go ahead at the pump, and oh, just take that parking spot too. Moreover, he scores Renault Twingo the highest on the chance rate. So...
2. He is petite
No parking spot is too small for him to maneuver his little butt into. He also has an extremely short turning radius. Missed an exit? Passed a nice store that you really need to check out? No worries. Look in your mirrors, turn your steering wheel to the left, and you've turned 180 degrees.
3. He is within reach
With With Private Lease, you can drive him for less than 200 euros a month (this includes all car costs such as maintenance, road tax, and APK, you only pay for fuel on top of that). The Twingo also drives economically, leaving you enough money to shop. Moreover, you're less than two tanks away from Paris. That's cheaper than the train. And more fun.
4. He is French
And everything French is tasteful and stylish. I told you that you can get to Paris so easily with him?
5. He drives nicely
But really nicely. While browsing through our archive, I came across this post by Liesbeth who experienced a ride in the Twingo as therapeutic, even with her fear of shifting.
