5x bucket list destinations you must celebrate NYE at

Last year around this time, I was building ‘snow'men on Australian white sand beaches. Quite a few travel buddies took a round trip back home for Christmas and NYE. To be honest, I didn't quite get it, because a. it seems trendy in the Netherlands to say that New Year's Eve is boring and disappointing, and b. I will never ever forget that fireworks on the Harbour Bridge.

If the Christmas ball bonus allows it; you must have seen these bucket listers:

Sydney

So I was there last year. I got the following tip from a local and please write it down because you need to be here. To see the fireworks show up close, you can lie down with the whole backpack crowd for 18 hours in a line for the Royal Botanic Garden. Are you up for that? No, me neither. That's why we strolled around nine in the evening with a bottle of champagne under our arm to Cremorne Point. Then you're triple A enjoying the fireworks of your life.

Paris

Amour amour under the Eiffel Tower. You're a lot less time on the road and still at THE place to très romantically kiss in the new year. By the way, most marriage proposals are made in Paris. You're already on your way, right?

Rio de Janeiro

Samba, fireworks, glitter bikinis, feather costumes, and a lot of caramba. In the meantime, I'm already sky scanning for a flight to Rio. If you're going to celebrate the new year festively anywhere, it's in Brazil.

New York

That's my American Dream. I flew to the ‘Concrete Jungle’ about five years ago around October/November. Christmas trees were already being set up and ice rinks were being built. Just imagine how Rockefeller Center looks during New Year's Eve.

Japan

That was definitely already on your bucket list. Man, man, man, if you've caught a fireworks show there, everything else from then on is medium. What is actually nice about Japan: their fireworks season falls in the summer. You just celebrate it twice.

I understand: celebrating 2019 intercontinentally is tight. Are you going to Paris next Monday? But then wild party plans can already be made from now on. With whom and where are you going to ring in 2020?
