7 lessons for your holiday wardrobe
Now that holidays are booked in full and summer dresses have been stocked up en masse, it is time for the next step: getting your holiday wardrobe ready. And that involves a lot more than that cool swimming costume... These are the 7 lessons for your holiday wardrobe. I'm already looking forward to number 2.
Per outfit per day
The art of packing? Making sets in advance. Pool, beach and evening looks; they are all made in advance
thought out from head to toe. Takes a while, but that way you never drag unnecessary things in your suitcase with you.
Dress up
Pack at least one ‘over the top’ look. On holiday, you get to be whoever you want to be. So that definitely includes that particularly well-dressed lady in red, which might be just a little too much of a look at home. Bet the compliments are flying around your ears.
Treat your swimwear like lingerie
Going on holiday for ten days? Pack ten pieces of swimwear. Bikini tops, bottoms and swimming costumes in the mix. Because tell the truth: those swimwear looks are the outfits you wear the most.
Ban on synthetic substances
Go for linen and cotton, or fabrics that breathe. No one is waiting for sweaty fabrics during a trip towards the warmth of the sun.
Sunglasses are what you want
Leave necklaces, bracelets and other big expensive jewellery at home. Sunglasses are the holiday accessory. Preferably a few different ones, so you can style like a pro with these too. Think oversized round ones à la Chloé, a classic Ray-Ban and a cat-eye on trend.
4 x S
Apply the ‘4 x S rule’: sandal, slipper, stiletto and trainer. Preferably in the same colour palette, so that you can always switch with your look of the day.
The ‘I'll buy that one over there’
Don't. After all, you won't buy them there at all. Or worse: you can't find them. So just cram that perfect beach bag in the suitcase to avoid obligatory shopping sessions on holiday.
