Amsterdam Fashion week is Loose and Carolien is there

In high school, I always laid out my outfit the day before. This process usually took at least fifteen minutes, because you had to be absolutely sure that your outfit was ‘on fleek’ the next day. Luckily, these days I wake up in the morning and almost immediately think of a lovely outfit. Even when I have an event or premiere, I only start thinking about my ensemble for that evening an hour in advance. But there are a few days each year when I suddenly have no idea what to wear: a bit over the top or should I go for minimalistic? In the end, it becomes a mishmash of too many styles mixed together and a completely overdone outfit…

Of course, I’m talking about Fashion Week, the moment when all fashion influencers and industry professionals come together to sniff out the latest collections. In recent years, Amsterdam hasn’t exactly been on the Fashion Week map, but this year I expect a lot from our own country: with the new organizer Danie Bles at the helm and the Museumplein as the new ‘heart’ of Amsterdam Fashion Week, this promises to be a week full of fashion and new talent. Danie hopes that this Fashion Week will be felt throughout the city, and alongside the official schedule, you’ll find activities all over the city with a jam-packed off-schedule program (like an amazing fashion tour through the Rijksmuseum with three designers as curators). I’m really looking forward to the show of 10Days and Zoe Karssen, and instead of having to wait over a season, you can buy some items from the catwalk right away, how cool is that?

But anyway, back to my outfit stress, because that started over a week ago. You’re kind of in the ‘fashion premium league’, so the stakes are high. Luckily, just in time, the new fashion bible for the upcoming season arrived in the form of the Amayzine magazine. The color palette will be burgundy, dark green, and includes cognac tones: I can work with this. In the meantime, a lovely outfit is waiting for my first show that takes place tomorrow. Now I just hope it will be ‘high fashion enough’. What it has become? I will, of course, share the result with you via Instagram.
