Barry Atsma has a baby but he needs to act normal for a moment

Barry Atsma, one of the most handsome actors in the Netherlands with an ABSOLUTELY exceptional exception of his character in ‘Klem’, but well, he can't help that either and yes, this was the longest subordinate clause of the day, has a baby. Hooray. And hooray. Of course, he didn't do that all by himself. The little princess who goes through life with the name Bobbi is a joint product of Barry and his beloved Noortje Herlaar.

So far, all great and lovely and nice and cheerful and hallelujah in glory. I like Barry, Noortje too, and the baby definitely as well. But then the moment of making it public. The couple did that a month after the birth. Allowed. Can. One calls Boulevard as soon as the contractions start, the other cherishes the little wonder as long as possible in a private setting. Each to their own life, each to their own choices.

That the baby is placed unrecognizably, I understand as well. And I'm not the only one, everyone understands that. But then the accompanying text. ‘We would like to kindly request the media to respect the privacy of our daughter and her sisters Zoë and Charley,’ they ask emphatically. ‘We do not want them to be recognizable in the media. We also choose not to post photos of them where they can be recognized.’

On Now.nl I read that the couple hopes that the girl ‘can grow up in peace’. And then my eyebrows did go up for a moment. Guys. You are actors. Quite well-known. Okay, so be it. But we live in the Netherlands. Ne-ther-lands. The land of down-to-earthness. If you just act normal, everyone will leave you and your baby, however beautiful and wonderful, alone. Or are you secretly named Van Oranje? No, right? Well then. Maybe it was an overzealous manager who sent out this slightly hysterical press release. I would advise them to take a bite of that beschuit with muisjes and a bite of air and enjoy that beautiful little person who has enriched the world and about whom we will not be talking for the time being.
