Beyoncé for Vogue is here
The cover you knew was coming. Indeed, the cover the whole world was looking forward to: Beyoncé for Vogue. The September issue for Vogue, shot by the very young Tyler Mitchell (23). And we immediately get two for the price of one, because she made it a double cover. Now, I have to say a tiny peep that I was expecting just a bit more from it. Beautiful pictures, sure, but somewhere we might have hoped for a bit more spectacle. We had already seen those hydrangeas growing out of her crown at the unveiling of her twins, hadn't we? Oh wait, I just read that was the idea too. Back to basics. Little make-up during the shoot and relaxing in the backyard with a sheet on a clothesline. In that case: well done, the clothes are gorgeous.
Pretty juicy, though: in the interview, Queen B. is quite candid about the arrival of the twins for the first time. The twins that -what we all didn't know until now- were brought into the world by Caesarean section. “It had been major surgery. Some of your organs are shifted temporarily, and in rare cases, removed temporarily during delivery. I am not sure everyone understands that. I needed time to heal, to recover.”
Six months after giving birth, Beyoncé gave the infamous Coachella performance. Talking about her pregnancy silos, she says: “I was patient with myself and enjoyed my fuller curves. My kids and husband did, too. To this day my arms, shoulders, breasts, and thighs are fuller. I have a little mommy pouch, and I'm in no rush to get rid of it. I think it's real. Whenever I'm ready to get a six-pack, I will go into beast zone and work my ass off until I have it.”
Enfin. Beyoncé has pulled off what no one has ever managed: to rule everything in Vogue. And we can only respect that. And with or without those pregnancy kilos, you look gorgeous either way. Well done, B.
