Amayzine

I proudly present to you the new JAN. In addition to the delicious snapshots that the fantastic Roger Neve took of us in Porto, I am especially happy with my personal interview. For the first time, I talk about the terrible disease of Huntington that has gripped our family. My father passed away five weeks after Otis was born: I am very grateful that they met each other. My sister also suffers from this terrible disease and with this interview, I hope to generate more attention so that more awareness is created about this disease. The messages following the cover came pouring in, but unlike other interviews, I now respond with: ‘Thank you! But do read the piece inside. That's what matters...’

Now I still regularly have nightmares about high school: taking tests that you haven't studied for, sitting in your final exam while having no idea what subject is in front of you... While I was such an exemplary student who always studied very well and afterwards said: ‘Oh, I did this sooo badly’ and then received a pretty good grade back. Yep, such an annoying student, yes. Except for German. Despite my language talent, that language just didn't work for me. I even had an extra week of lessons during my summer vacation to finish it neatly with a six. So why was I voluntarily at the Goethe Institute yesterday for a German language course? Well, to someday be able to expand my ‘play area’, it would be nice if you master the language of our neighbors a bit. But during the registration test, I was already sweating again. I wonder if I can hold out!

Now I know that the next thing I am going to share is going to generate quite a bit of ‘hate’, probably especially at the Amayzine head office... But when you make such an enormous ‘discovery’, you can't help but shout this from the rooftops. Unbeknownst to me, I walked through the Bijenkorf last week, on my way to customer service for a return. Until suddenly on the second floor my attention was drawn to a rack with ‘unit prices’. Like a hyena slyly approaching its prey, I crept up to it, hoping that the other visitors wouldn't find this ‘treasure’. And there it hung: a long knitted cardigan with embroidered flowers from Valentino. From €795 for, hold on, €30. Yes, sorry, but this makes me very happy.

Last week I was one of the lucky few who got to attend the kick-off of the capsule collection from Viktor & Rolf X Zalando. The more curious I was about the beautiful items, the more curious I was about the accompanying price tags. But at the reveal, you could feel the greed bubbling up among the audience: for these amounts, you want to shop half the collection. The next morning I was sitting behind my laptop at 9 AM sharp refreshing every ten seconds. Successfully! That crazy sweater with bows is in the pocket. Today the delivery is scheduled, so tomorrow I am of course obliged to post a nice look with my new acquisition.
