Live from Mexico

Lying on the beach, enjoying a Virgin Colada, I looked somewhat enviously at the delicious skating photos on the Amsterdam canals. Because how often does it happen that they are completely frozen over?! I can't wait to stand on the ice for the first time with Otis next time. Although he really seems to be a tropical child: happily playing in the sand, blissfully napping in 29 degrees with a light breeze through his hair, and every afternoon splashing around with dad in the azure blue sea water. Okay, that jealousy towards the cold was very short-lived: give me another week of sun, sea, and beach!

Meanwhile, the Karthaus-Spoor family has found the perfect vacation daily rhythm: every morning we walk to the beach at 6:45 am for the beautiful sunrise, and then after breakfast, we take turns exercising. After a very extensive lunch, it's time for some beach hours at one of the two beautiful beaches, and at the end of the afternoon, we enjoy drinks while playing a game of Yahtzee (where there is always a battle to avoid being labeled ‘The loser of the vacation’). After a lovely dinner at one of the three restaurants, we watch an episode of our new Netflix addiction ‘La Casa de Papel’ and then fall asleep right at 10 pm... Man oh man, I wish we could keep this rhythm going at home! Can't wait to determine our next Club Med destination on the plane home.

As tempting as it is to stay at the perfectly maintained resort all the time, we still took a look at the excursion desk for a fun day trip. I didn't have to look long: a lovely boat trip to Isla Mujeres and then cruising around the island in a golf cart. Let’s Go! Now many young families might think: ‘But isn't that way too difficult with such a little one?!’ Our motto is to take that little one along as much as possible, and so far, it's going fantastically! Otis slept like a rose on the boat (which was rocking quite a bit and was wonderfully noisy). Then we put him in the carrier and off we went! During the ride in the golf carts, he was wide-eyed: beautiful white beaches, colorful houses, and we even saw a few turtles. And the locals? They were mostly wide-eyed at Jon’s look of the day...

Just a few weeks left and then it's here! With ‘Bouillabaisse’ we are at the Supperclub for our show ‘Female Rappers’. During the show, you will be introduced to the new sensation of the century, called ‘The Female Rapper’. She promises everyone ‘a new and enhanced world’, but whether that world is much better... And yes: yours truly will also do a bit of rapping. We have made three awesome tracks (with accompanying music videos) that will be used in the performance, but don't be surprised if they suddenly appear on Spotify and YouTube! March 25 & April 1 @Supperclub Amsterdam and March 31 @Melkweg Amsterdam.
