The zipper closed…
I had been looking forward to this for months: a night away with Jon, plus a super deluxe dinner at Château Neercanne (do yourself a favor and google this location: it’s like admiring a fairytale castle in France). Last week, I went to the gym extra in the hope that that one evening dress, which I bought when I was just pregnant and have never worn, would finally fit. I had no millimeter of leeway, but the zipper closed! By the way, I still don’t understand how it didn’t break after that cheese platter at the end with no less than twenty types on the cheese cart. The next morning, we drove home completely reborn after a whopping eight hours of sleep. How wonderful to take a break from parenting for a moment and just be husband and wife again. Note to self: plan at least two of these trips for two each year, although 70% of the conversations about Otis went on, including the necessary videos and photos…
It’s impossible to keep track of them all: Amsterdam is teeming with pop-up stores. New clothing brands, trendy bars, and even restaurants that temporarily open their doors only to close again at their peak, no matter how successful. Now I’m pretty up to date, but I often find out only when the last day of the store has already been counted, so when I received this invite, I immediately marked it in my calendar. A real KC Limonade Pop UP Bar, where you can drink a special limococktail with friends or kids. The bar consists of two worlds: Pink Paradise, where everything is pink, or Sunny Side, where only yellow lemonades are served. They transform the lemonades into delicious cocktails: I had the yellow variant mixed with ginger, sage, lemon, and red pepper. I’ve gathered enough tips for a summer full of alcohol-free cocktails. Good news: you can still visit the Pop Up Bar until May 26. Prinsengracht 715, Amsterdam.
New message in my inbox: whether I want to show my beauty ritual online for &C. Now I find it a delightful item to watch and always get a lot of tips from it, but is my ritual interesting enough? Quickly, I go through all the steps in my head: my god, I apply so much! Now I’m going 60% out the door without makeup, but I don’t think the viewers are waiting for that end result… So I’m going for a basic look with some blush and mascara, so the ratio of cream/makeup is still a bit in balance. On the couch, Jessie Jazz Vuijk is already waiting to record her ritual, and I suddenly become too aware of what I’m saying. ‘And this cream is super good for… uh, yes, for what actually?!’ I stumble over my sentences and hear myself rambling. Oooh, this is going to be another embarrassing display. But Jessie says afterwards very sweetly that she really benefits from my tips. Whether she speaks the truth, we will see online soon…
Yes, I have another one. This is, I’m afraid, the discovery of this year. Why ‘afraid’? Because I fear for my bank account with all my heart… I’ve known for years that all good fashion comes from Scandinavia, but they keep outdoing themselves. Especially after the birth of Otis, I want comfortable outfits without too many frills and fuss. ‘Meet’ IBEN: a Norwegian brand that designs very comfy but super stylish items. I saw this sweater lying there and was immediately sold: it’s so comfortable that I’ve worn it three days in a row. Luckily, you can hardly see the stains from Otis’ snacks and runny noses from last week through the print.
