And she travels quite a bit

If you checked my Instagram account last weekend, it looked like we had traveled to Africa with the family. Now, the weather here was really subtropical, but as for all the giraffes, elephants, and lions; we saw them up close in our own country. I had no idea what to expect from the invite for the new Safari Lodge of Dierenpark Beekse Bergen. Once we arrived at our beautiful little house for the weekend, we saw the lions peering at us from just a stone's throw away. When we went on a big jeep safari through the park that afternoon and the giraffes literally peeked into our car, I knew for sure: we can cross that safari tour off our bucket list!

We were barely home for a day before our suitcases were ready for the next trip. For years, Disneyland Paris has been a regular thing for me and Marly plus our boys. But this time we were out for the first time with (3!) kids. Believe me, that changes things. Besides all the bottles, naps, and dirty diapers, you navigate the park very differently in search of the best attractions for the little ones. And believe me, they are definitely there. Otis was wide-eyed in ‘A Small World’ and for the first time we visited the Mickey theater show: really an absolute must-see, even if you’re without kids. After a wonderfully hectic dinner (with Disney characters in photos, feeding Otis, and trying to get a bite in myself), and after putting all the kids to bed, we plopped down in the bar for a round of gin and tonics. But you enjoy it even more now that you experience the whole trip through the shining eyes of those little ones. Our next Disney adventure will be planned soon!

Marly and I were shocked by our reflection in the elevator: those fresh, young girls had suddenly become tired mothers with bags under their eyes... I hardly wear makeup, but suddenly I notice that I can no longer get away with just a day cream. Every now and then you come across a beauty product that you instantly can't live without. The new ‘Hollywood Flawless Filter’ from Charlotte Tilbury is a miracle in a bottle: it evens out your skin and leaves a lovely glow. Bring on my new reflection. Honestly: would you say I’ve only slept four hours when you see this photo?!

Fortunately, I see more and more labels that produce with environmental awareness and use ecological materials. But there is still a lot to gain in terms of manufacturing. When the Rana Plaza building collapsed in Bangladesh five years ago, the fashion industry was shaken awake in one fell swoop, and thus the Fashion Revolution was born. Now, during Fashion Revolution Week, fashion brands are calling for global attention for the real makers to improve their working conditions. For this week, the Dutch bag brand MYOMY has designed the INSIDE OUT BAG: a bag that you can wear inside out, so the maker is clearly visible on the label. With the proceeds, the makers can build a better, independent future. I only wear my version ‘inside out’ now.
