The women whose advice I follow blindly

Now that almost all friends have turned 30, we have had a lot of dinners and parties, including beautiful speeches. Last weekend, Robert celebrated his ‘Big 30’ and expectations were high. Jon had to come up with a damn good speech, given his previous successful speeches. He had written a fantastic ‘roast’ that, in my opinion, could be broadcast one-on-one on TV. While enjoying (just a bit too many) Bulldog gin tonics, we danced until the early hours. By Sunday morning, when Otis woke up at 7:00 AM, we had a bit of regret. Fortunately, this was one of the last 30th birthday parties.

There are a few women whose advice I follow blindly. Our own May is one of them, but also Romy Boomsma for all the mommy tips and Victoria Beckham for all the beauty tips. Sometimes, that last woman shares things that no mortal can afford, but I am all the more enthusiastic about a product that is extremely affordable. I have always been a fan of Weleda (I love the Calendula line for Otis), and thanks to Victoria, I found my new favorite product: Skin Food. A nourishing ‘all-in-one cream’ with calendula and chamomile, which La Beckham applies to her eyelashes and eyebrows in the evening. And now, with this bleak weather, I slather a generous layer of this stuff all over my face.

The first Sinterklaas parade with Otis is a fact. The little man doesn’t get much of it yet, but we couldn’t resist traveling to the Dam with the family to catch a glimpse of the good saint . With a little Piet hat and some soot marks on his face, he looked on in amazement at the whole parade. Otis put his shoe out for the first time yesterday and he even started to sing along a bit. I’m enjoying it while it lasts, as he is not yet fully aware of the Sint festivities.

Jon and I both don’t smoke, and I was never really concerned about smoking in public places until I became a mother and Otis was surrounded by smoke in a public place where many children come. This week, the campaign for a Smoke-Free Generation starts, and to set a good example, you can sign for smoke-free play or sports areas for children in your neighborhood. I have registered the playground in our street, and if you would like to register a place as well, you can do so via rookvrij.nl.
