Let me start by wishing everyone a very happy, loving, healthy, and inspiring 2018. I could skip the ‘healthy’ part on the first night: mom is done with breastfeeding, so the alcoholic tap could be wide open for the first time in fifteen months during New Year's Eve. And it went down easier than expected... Luckily, I had no issues the next day, as I compensated well with thirty cheese crackers, four oliebollen, two apple beignets, and a handful of chocolates. And then yesterday we flew to a beach resort, read: stuffing that body into a way too tight bikini and parading on the beach with Otis. This week will be all about living on watermelon and salads.
But before we could feel the sun, we first had to endure a pretty long flight of ten hours... Now, Otis is genuinely the sweetest baby imaginable, but I get fidgety in such a seat in a fairly small space with a lot of people around me. The chaos at home started with packing the suitcases, and what I always laughed at others for suddenly became my reality: sweet potato, pumpkin, and even my steamer were in the suitcase as if we were going to a place that had never heard of civilization. But after a taxi ride to Schiphol (which we made twice because I forgot the stroller) and getting settled on the plane, Mr. started smiling and hasn't stopped since. We proudly rolled out of the plane ten hours later, completely crumpled ourselves, but Otis had nothing but a big smile on his face. Please give me two exactly the same children!
And here we are, in Curaçao! Jon has the last recordings of ‘Bon Bini Holland 2’ and we are going to do nothing but lie on a bed at the beach with our lazy butts. Now, I have always been a champ at bringing too little clothing (yes, you read that right), but for Otis, I packed a full suitcase. And given the small size of his outfits, you need a lot to fill a suitcase.
Everything I came across was too cute to leave behind. This morning I stood longer in front of the closet choosing his outfit than mine. And here it is: Otis’ first beach look is a fact! Many more to follow...
