Counting down to the Olympic Games
While you are reading this, I am marking a thick cross on my countdown calendar with my black marker. Vacation? No. Carnival? Not that either. Just three weeks of counting down and it will be here. You know I am not a fervent TV watcher, but starting February 9, I will be glued to the screen for two full weeks. Sven, are you ready? Ireen, do you have your lucky underwear ready? If I am already so eager, how must Koentje be feeling?
To keep me sweet until then, SBS will come up with something very nice in the coming weeks. In the lead-up to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, starting this Sunday, we can take a look inside the famous Holland Heineken House for three weeks, the place where athletes and visitors of the Olympic Games have been coming together for 25 years. Not only to enjoy the grass-green bottle, but especially to share joys and sorrows together. In Holland goes for Gold, Olympic champions like Pieter van den Hoogenband and Gianni Romme will take us along in their Olympic memories. The athletes will visit six Olympic cities on five continents together with people who have established the Holland Heineken House. Each trip ends at the exact location where the Holland Heineken House was located during the Olympic Games. In addition, the heroes will be surprised with footage of themselves, allowing them to relive the emotions they felt back then.
Alright, tissues at the ready, this Sunday at 11:00 PM on SBS6. And uh, Sven, if you have a spot left between your thermal underwear, I would love to see it with my own eyes, there in faraway Honkitonki-Piejnsjang.
