Anna Dello Russo bans fur
Choosing faux fur over real fur is becoming more and more normal. Fashion editor Anna Dello Russo is also removing fur coats from her collection.
On February 24, Dello Russo will sell a large part of her collection through an archive auction at Christie’s in Milan, but the pieces that contain fur will not be auctioned. In January, PETA wrote her a letter requesting that she donate them to the fur sanctuary program. And Anna is responding to that request.
“The fashion community is increasingly distancing itself from fur – and so am I,” says Anna Dello Russo. “This auction is meant to pass on my legacy to the next generation – but because I care about animals, I can no longer in good conscience pass on this fur clothing to others. Instead, I have decided to donate it to PETA to ensure that it is used in a meaningful way to help animals.”
PETA uses the pieces from Anna Dello Russo in high-profile, educational displays and as bedding for sick animals. Hats off to Dello Russo.
