The trip you would have wanted to be on
Disaronno meets Trussardi
My first trip to Milan was on the agenda. Yes people, I know, the country and especially the city of pasta, pizza, and wine and I had never been there. Wednesday it was finally time. I flew to Milan for Disaronno. Tasting a whole lot of Disaronno, neat, on the rocks, with or without lemon. You can imagine that I was genuinely jumping for joy at Schiphol.
But what this trip was really all about was the familiar Disaronno in a new outfit. Disaronno is ‘wearing’ an exclusive and temporary design by a famous Italian fashion designer for the fifth time. In 2017 it was Missoni's turn and this year they are passing the baton to Trussardi. Enough reason for a party.
At the airport, I met travel companions Daphne Boer and Tanja Minnée. Both are also huge fans of a good glass of wine and for Disaronno, you can wake us up, so that was immediately a party. We stayed at the NYX Hotel and gathered around six o'clock in the hotel lobby, where shuttle buses took us to cocktail bar Talea for a ‘drinking experience’. We ate sweet potato fries on sticks and drank cocktails from a broken egg, making it seem like you were sipping from a real bird's nest.
The next day we got a tour of the Disaronno factory. I learned all about the origin of the famous bottle and we drank Disaronno in cocktail form, neat or ice-cold on the rocks. After a quick outfit change, we gathered in the Trussardi store, where Trussardi and Disaronno officially unveiled the new outfit of the bottle. This had to be celebrated, and all of Italy was gearing up for a party. Again we toasted and celebrated life.
In case you're wondering if I did anything else during this trip besides drinking Italian wine and especially a lot of Disaronno? I have to disappoint you because the answer is no. But hey, research shows that smart people like to enjoy a glass more, so I think that's the best excuse of the day. The trip you would have wanted to be on Disaronno meets Trussardi.
Cheers!
