Everyone breathes in dirty air at home

And this is what you can do about it

I live in what is arguably the largest (and most beautiful, sorry to the rest of the Netherlands) city in the country, and there is actually only one big downside to it: that dirty air outside. Because all those thousands of trams, cars, beer bikes, and scooters racing through Amsterdam day in and day out make my Mokum a bit stuffy.

Filthy. Black and gray. I'm not exaggerating, because the skies are always grayer above the Pijp than elsewhere in the country. Why do you think it's always 3 degrees warmer in the south of the country? We Amsterdammers live in a haze of exhaust fumes and machines.

That's why I'm happy when I can hang out at home in my clean, lovely little house after a bike ride to and from work. No pollution from cars here, yay. At least, that's what I think. Because no matter how fresh it sometimes smells in the house, appearances can be deceiving. What I breathe in when I'm lounging on my couch inside often contains small pollen and other allergens that worsen hay fever symptoms, shortness of breath, and coughing. And I even breathe in dirty bacteria in my fresh bedroom, it turns out. Now, I don't have hay fever, but how do I always end up with those damn dry eyes... Suddenly, I wonder. Moving to the countryside? No option. Yet there is finally hope now. Also for us Amsterdammers (and okay, secretly also for people from other cities and villages).

With the air purifier from Philips  that whole dirty air I breathe in at home is all a thing of the past. Because wow, just the idea that I breathe in small bacteria in my own living room or bedroom is reason enough to score an air purifier ASAP, right? Exactly. The air purifier from Philips neutralizes bacteria and viruses, also removes unpleasant odors, captures pet hair, and filters out floating pollen, cigarette smoke, and dust from the air. Believe me, it suddenly feels very different to breathe. I can stare blankly ahead with watery eyes again, delightful.

Even if you don't suffer from hay fever, it's better to have such an air purifier in your home. Dirty air is harmful to everyone in the long term and worse for your health than you might expect. Just having burned candles makes my house dirtier, to name just one thing. Even though I think I'm making things a bit cozy with those candles. Nothing cozy about it. You make your house dirty with it. The same goes for cooking. Okay, I only cook a maximum of twice a week (long live the takeout and delivery service of Amsterdam), but still. You only really get rest and fresh energy in a clean house, that's one thing I know for sure.

So remember two words: Philips and air purifier. Go get it, tigers. And don't forget that one for next to your desk at work either. Even your boss will be grateful to us later.
