For those who really want to eat well in Dubai

Soon a return trip Dubai on the agenda but no idea where to eat? Time for some groundwork. Because if there's one thing you don't want, it's ending up on an expensive, touristy terrace where there's nothing good to nibble on either. Look, the expert on the Arabian Emirates comes to the rescue. 11 fantastic dining spots in a row.

Eggspectations

Just take a look at TripAdvisor and you'll immediately understand why everyone is raving about this spot. Pancakes with fresh fruit, the best eggs Benedict in town, beautiful views over the beach, and French toast that you'll fall in love with. I say: go for it. Great for breakfast or lunch.

Arabian Tea House

For the absolute best hummus in town. And falafel. And all sorts of other cozy platters with cheese, olives, you name it. Extra bonus points: you hardly find any tourists here. A truly unique experience among the locals is guaranteed, and there's also a beautiful Instagram-worthy courtyard. Add this to your MUST-list right away, deal? For breakfast or lunch.

Zuma

The favorite restaurant of many Dubai lovers. And I understand why. Fresh sushi, delicious soft shell crab, small Asian dishes to share… Zuma is an evening of enjoyment at the highest level. And yes, it’s a bit of a see-and-be-seen place. But hey, that’s totally okay in Dubai.

Burj al Arab

No money tree in the garden? Too bad. Then spending a night in the only seven-star hotel in the world is probably not an option. But the high tea at the Burj al Arab is something you really want to experience. Just a heads up: the restaurant is often fully booked weeks in advance. Be sure to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.

Aprons and Hammers

If you love seafood: this is a must. Yes, really. Aprons and Hammers at Jumeirah Beach has been voted the best seafood restaurant in the city multiple times. The lobster is a real highlight.

Level 43 Sky Lounge

I had one of the best cocktails of my life. God, I can't remember the name anymore, so it’s probably not just one. Anyway, for a top view over the city, great service, and delicious cocktails, definitely check it out. You even get those nuts and olives for free.

Café Gratitude

Located in one of the most famous hotels in the world: Atlantis The Palm. The chef is among the best in the world, and the dishes are each a work of art on a plate. Do you pay for that? Yep. But hey, turn on your celebradar, because there's a good chance you'll run into at least two celebrities.

Bice Mare

In the mood for bella Italia? This is your spot. I received it as a tip on Instagram multiple times. Bice Mare is an Italian restaurant with a view of the big fountain at the Burj Khalifa. Be sure to reserve outside.

Thiptara

If you're not much of a pasta person, love Thai, and are wandering around the Burj Khalifa: we had such a delicious evening here that I regretted only doing it once. Order the papaya salad and the green curry. You can thank me later.

Pier 7

In the tower of Pier 7, you’ll find seven (surprisingly) different restaurants. All just below Michelin level. I think you’ll spend around 90 to 100 euros for an average meal with a starter, main course, and a few drinks. But then you have the best view of the city.

Buddha Bar

Think: bar, restaurant, and outdoor lounge all in one. Sitting on a designer chair, cocktail on the right, fusion dishes on the left, and camera at the ready. This evening needs to be captured.
