Forget vacations

Adventurous travel is what we want

Ready for the trip of your life? Good. This is the plan: travel without a plan. Yes, I can hear some control freaks screaming, but don’t worry, of course you have ‘something’ of concrete ideas. You just haven’t set anything in stone yet. And believe me, that’s wonderful.

A few months ago, when I went on a road trip through Portugal with my boy, we were overjoyed that we hadn’t booked our hotel for the whole week. We found our starting place (a so-called ‘idyllic’ Portuguese fishing village) A: dirty and B: boring, and we drove with screeching tires to Lisbon the same day.

Simply put, traveling without a plan means the following: if you find somewhere boring, you quickly move on to another place, and if you find somewhere chill, you stay longer. Result? YOU and not the circumstances determine how cool your vacation will be. Long live freedom! Traveling without a plan soon? This is what you throw in your suitcase for the ultimate freedom-is-happiness experience.

A different mentality

Preferably in your hand luggage if possible. Stop thinking: ‘I must I must I must’ because you want to get everything out of your trip. Don’t let tourist hotspots rush you and listen to your own feelings. It’s YOUR trip and you decide what you feel like. When traveling without a plan, it counts: live from day to day. What you do tomorrow? You’ll see tomorrow!

The good old Lonely Planet

Yes, yes, open door, but it remains the gem among travel guides. Compact, up to date, and full of cozy neighborhoods, restaurants, cute bars, and the most beautiful beaches. If you find yourself in a strange city and don’t know what to do, at least you can choose from a number of cozy options.

The perfect travel scent

Over to your inner travel goddess, who is on the plane, on the boat, and in the bus and wants to smell nice without overwhelming others. Enter: Chloé Nomade, the newest member of the Chloé family. It is fully dedicated to freedom, escape, and confidence. The intense, mineral character of oak moss is delightfully light and exactly what you need to conquer the world.

The book ‘Pinnen in Mongolië’

Liesbeth Rasker (sure, former editor) can describe like no other why traveling enriches your life. Sharp, humorous as we know her, and above all: honest. Because (solo) traveling is not just roses and moonshine, sometimes you also find yourself without money in Mongolia and there’s no freaking bank to be found where you can withdraw cash. Lies shares a shitload of tips with you.
