Good lord: Maxim Hartman and Olcay Gulsen are going at each other in RTL Boulevard

Hi friends. Shall we warm up right away with the sleaze of the day? Good. Did you see Boulevard last night? Man oh man, talk about cringeworthy television. Olcay Gulsen and Maxim Hartman brought the blood under each other's nails during a heated discussion in the studio at Boulevard. That poor Beau van Erven Dorens can hardly get a word in edgewise.

Now you might be wondering: what's going on? The uproar started when Maxim Hartman made comments about the bosom of newsreader Dionne Stax during a broadcast of Pauw last week. Her breasts would ‘distract Maxim too much’. “I am being discriminated against as a man,” he said. “Do I not have the right to news coverage?!”

Look, anyone who knows Maxim a bit knows that sarcasm drips from his face. Not that this is a free pass to throw around sexist remarks, but what I do want to say is: people, it’s Maxim Hartman. If he had said this to my face, I might have even laughed. It only went wrong when he thought it was a good idea to share this live with all of the Netherlands. Then you’re putting someone down, which is not very classy.

Olcay – who definitely had a bone to pick with Maxim – stood up for Dionne and the RTL Boulevard editorial team thought it was a good idea to invite Maxim to the studio for a frank discussion with Olcay. Which was anything but uh, cozy. Anyway, I would say: judge for yourself.
