Here you slurp the tastiest noodles in the country

Where one can delight for a day in that perfectly rolled sushi roll (hello Kiki), for me, when it comes to comfort food, a steaming bowl of ramen noodles is definitely number one.

Homemade under a warm blanket while watching a good movie or conjured up from Japanese hands on a wobbly stool at the small cozy restaurant in the center. It's high time for a list of the best slurping spots in the country.

1. Konbu Streetfood – Groningen

At Konbu, you can choose from four different types of ramen; from classic shio ramen to the Konbu Special, each of which can be pimped with an egg, shiitake, or fishcakes.

2. Raku – Uithoorn

’In the afternoon, you can eat the best ramen here, in the evening, the tiny spot transforms into an authentic Japanese food heaven. You can't make a reservation here, so be on time to snag one of the six tables. But once you're seated, the wait is more than worth it. For a lunch menu based on soy sauce or miso, you pay only 12 euros for a generous bowl of ramen, gyoza, steamed rice, and pickles.

3. Vatten Ramen – Amsterdam

Brand new in the center of Amsterdam is Vatten Ramen, where chef Hideto Kawahara serves the best ramen you've ever tasted. Hideto previously made Totto Ramen and Hide-Chan Ramen a great success in places like New York, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

4. Fou Fow Ramen – Amsterdam

Perhaps my favorite in the city. Fou Fow looks clean and basic, and so do the soups. The choice is huge and the price is nice. From just €10.50, you can order a steaming plate of ramen based on chicken, pork, or veggie broth, which is richly filled with shiitake, spinach, a boiled egg, and of course noodles.

5. Hinoki – Rotterdam

Near the well-known Markthal, you will find the small but cozy Hinoki. The menu of Hinoki is heavily inspired by that of the famous Takumi in Düsseldorf. The menu features various types of shio, shoyu, and miso ramen. Perfect for brunch, lunch, or a quick bite before you plop down in the cinema.
