The sun is fun – except for your makeup. Before you know it, it's all over your armpits. It melts, it sticks, it drips… A woman's life in the summer isn't always rosy.

The most common mistake regarding sunbathing is that if you're already tanned, whether it's from a self-tanner or not, you can't burn anymore. In other words: no matter how tanned you are or what your base is, you will burn if you don't apply sunscreen properly and stay in the sun too long. So that factor is always necessary. Even if you spend the whole day in the shade, be glad for products that protect your skin with an SPF. Here are some facts about the sun that you better remember for life:

  • Also apply factor 50 with a thick layer. If you want to be sure you don't burn, you shouldn't stay in the sun too long AND you should apply a thick layer. A thin layer of factor 50 is actually not factor 50 at all. And yes, the higher the factor, the better.
  • After a year, you should throw away your bottle of sunscreen: it loses some of its effectiveness over time.
  • Sunscreen always leaves a white residue? No. Quite the opposite. So just apply it. Lancaster's sun products protect against all light and all sun rays: both UVA and UVB as well as visible light and infrared radiation.
  • You can also burn underwater, and after swimming, you should always reapply sunscreen. For sports, Lancaster also has the Sun Sport line. This is indeed resistant to water and you cool down a bit when you warm up again in the sun. You also need to splash in that water less often.
  • You can also burn if you're sitting behind glass. So don't think you're safe if you're in a car.
