male contraception is coming
Taking the pill is just like smoking: it's ‘out’. We don't want it anymore. When I look at my girlfriend group now, the pill takers are clearly in the minority. In August 2017 I wrote this farewell letter to my pill and I've been happy ever since. But now: contraception for men is in the works. It's been in development for a while, but due to unpleasant side effects (think acne, think depression), the male injection pill ultimately didn't go through. Now researchers have come up with an alternative that has nothing to do with taking something, injecting, or inserting. A cream. Yes, this is happening. A so-called spermicide cream that needs to be massaged into the arms and shoulders for twenty weeks, after which the number of active sperm should have decreased to the point that the man is practically infertile. Researchers are fully engaged in the study, but for now, it all looks incredibly revolutionary. You understand: I'm on top of this and will get back to you after thorough fieldwork.
P.S.: Hey, and if this works for men, this cream, why don't we come up with this for women?!
