Woohoo: I'm going on a road trip with my best friend

She is the only one who always laughs at my jokes. Even when they are bad. The only one who wants to lend me her newly bought dress for that party without me asking for it. The only one who can tell exactly when I need to sneeze. She is my bestie. And we go way back.

Anyone who knows me a little knows that my oldest girlfriend and I have been separated for a while . She found her love in an expat guy and Abidjan became their new hometown. Yes, I had to Google that three times too, but that is the largest city in Ivory Coast. Crying from my side. Of course, we FaceTime a lot, but everyone in a long-distance relationship knows: it’s not the same. And then suddenly the phone rang. “Look, I’m staying in the Netherlands. The whole summer!!” It took 2 mini seconds for the news to really sink in. CONFETTI, CRYING, PARTY! WHERE’S THE CHAMPAGNE?! FANFARES! ELEPHANTS! VACATION PLANS!! Yep, that’s how it went in my head.

And now, a little less than two weeks later, we are going on a mini road trip. Together. At the invitation of Lexa to test their Dating Map this summer. Aka: spotting handsome men for my ‘work’ and she can join for the first time. How fun is that? I mean, ask us to test cool dating spots in Europe and we know what to do. No problem at all. Every brunette needs a blondie for her adventures. I just had to figure out a nice route (we didn’t want to drive too far but wanted to see a lot) and find out life-important questions like what are the best road trip snacks and what music playlist are we going to create? My friend loves surprises so she left it almost entirely up to me. I think I’m almost there. Dear Roos, this is how we are going to drive this next week.

Amsterdam – Scheveningen – Rotterdam – Brussels – Paris – Champagne region Reims – Ghent – Amsterdam.

Yes, hold on tight, this is going to be a rollercoaster of cool things. I have gathered top hotspots. You have three nights to prepare. By the way, are you also bringing the La Vache qui rit cubes? I’ll take care of those sugary peaches for the road. Road trip with the bestie, here we come!
