Life is beautiful: we're going to Milan
And this is what I'm really looking forward to
My travel tail is wagging. Just about 24 hours to go. One more night of sleep and then Lil and I will be at Schiphol with our suitcases for a trip to the fashion and design capital of Italy. The reason? Milan Fashion Week baby.
Since it has been way too long since I checked the inside of an airplane (Dubai to be precise) it's high time to dust off my passport. And what better way to get back in the game than with a fashion trip to Milan. Yes, life is Gucci, literally. And because we often get even happier from the anticipation than from the trip itself (officially researched by the way), this is what I'm really excited about:
The show of Max Mara
Prediction based on previous years: the day typically starts with a total clothing crisis, where bras, curling irons, and heels are flying around, but at exactly half past nine we will be at Palazzo del Senato for the Max Mara show. There's a good chance Bella Hadid will be walking, just like the pride of the Netherlands Romee Strijd, Maartje Verhoef, Jessie Bloemendaal, and the model of the moment: namesake Kiki Willems. Already looking forward to the looks.
The gigantic Gucci flagship store
On Via Monte Napoleone. Yes, that's a recurring thing when we're in Milan. Although it's also very dangerous and we've agreed that this time we really can't buy a bag (something about both of us just buying a house) but looking is allowed, right? Maybe a little belt? A pair of sandals then? A scarf?
The Westin Palace
Sleeping in the heart of Milan. We end the days at The Westin Palace; a five-star plus hotel with wellness, design rooms with marble squared, and a breakfast that is said to be so delicious that you have to check in three kilos of extra luggage on the way back. I can hardly handle how posh and decadent I find all of this again.
The massages at The Westin Palace
Because after a whole day racing around the city in heels, we deserve that, right? Come on. I think so.
10 Corso Como
This is also a recurring thing. Located on a busy shopping street, you might almost walk past it as a tourist, but the Milan expert certainly won't skip this. 10 Corso Como consists of a hotel, a concept store, and a super hip restaurant. A super nice place to eat, but also to take a few pictures for Insta.
Oh and actually there's so much more. The perfect pastries from bakery Pavé for example. The coffee at Panini Durini. The parties at the Bvlgari Hotel. Watching the best-dressed Milanesi. THE PIZZAS WITH TRUFFLE. But above all: the atmosphere that the city breathes during Fashion Week. The organized chaos, the exotic birds, and the fashion. Milan, I think we're ready for you. See you in 24 hours.
