This is bananas
Probably there will be people reading this and thinking: kid, what are you worried about, but I am really annoyed by products that you buy in groups after which you can throw away half. Example: you buy a bunch of bananas and at first they are all rock hard and green and then suddenly ALL of them ripen at the same time, forcing you to throw half of them in the trash. The same goes for avocados. Such a waste, right?
This is also how they think in Korea, and that’s why the supermarket chain E-mart has come up with something brilliant. A package of six bananas, ranging from ripest to least ripe. HOW. SMART. IS. THIS. The Koreans have given the bananas the fitting name ‘haru hana banana’, which roughly translates to ‘one banana every day’, without having to throw half away. With the arrival of the new group bananas, they hope to combat food waste. Really sorry, but I find this so incredibly smart that I just had to share it with you. So far this ode to bananas. Thank you.
P.S. okayyyyy I just read that E-mart is definitely a brilliant supermarket because they also seem to have special watermelon packages with handles. Is there an entrepreneur reading this who feels like opening an E-mart in the Netherlands? I’ll come by every week, I promise!
