My first time

No, dirty pig, not that. But my first HelloFresh moment, I want to share that with you. Usually, it goes like this for us: I'm already home, my beloved calls around seven to say he's on his way, then we discuss what we're going to eat and come to the conclusion that we both don't know and we order something. Or we do something easy. But really cooking, that's for the weekend and to be honest, I'm also into the evergreens and not extremely experimental.

Before I get a visit from the Youth Care office: our children always eat very responsibly at 5:30 PM with my parents or our nanny, so the food pyramid is neatly checked off there. Anyway, putting something different on the table every time is not exactly my forte. As much as I would like to write here that I also do all that in a light-hearted way.

But yesterday my beloved called and asked the question again. ‘What are we eating?’ Well, it was nice that he asked that. Whether he wanted chicken thighs with roasted peppers or pearl couscous with prawns. There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line and I just knew that at that moment he raised two eyebrows in spontaneous admiration. Yes, I scored some points there.

At home, I had already completely prepared the mise en place. Onions chopped, garlic pressed, lemon zest grated and then squeezed the lemon and stripped the thyme from the sprigs. When my beloved came in, we quickly dove into the recipe together. He stirred in one pot and nudged me when more broth needed to be added to the pearl couscous.

Twelve minutes later, we walked into the room with a huge platter. We had cooked together (really a long time ago), our daughters and my father tasted something different, everyone praised our cooking skills and a quarter of an hour later everything, everything, everything was gone.
