Never stress about packing again: here's how to pack the smartest way

Open my suitcase during a random vacation, press trip or Fashion Week and you'll be shocked at the ten hats. There is no system; everything is really mixed up. Shoes, curling irons, makeup, stick-on bras; you name it, the terror.

Now you might think that I am the worst advisor when it comes to packing. But wait. I have really improved my life. I sit on a plane at least once a month and at some point, you just stop making the same stupid choices. Recently, I was seriously proud of myself that I was on a road trip and had left my heels at home because I knew I wasn't going to wear them anyway. It was a miracle that I only had three pairs of shoes with me for five days. Call it growing up.

It took me five years for the penny to drop because packing is an art. An art that you can learn with a little help here and there. Do you also never know where to put your socks, lingerie, and other small items? Do you lose everything? Then I have the ultimate tip for you: the cubes from SUITSUIT. A kind of mini storage bags that are perfect for turning your organized chaos into a party. I use them for my underwear, bikinis, socks, and toiletries, and suddenly I can find everything. They are lightweight and take up hardly any space. Couldn't someone have told me this earlier?

The rest of my packing tips so far:

  1. Lay out everything you think you need and then take a third off. Leave everything for the ‘yes, but what if’ situation, definitely at home.
  2. Stop taking large shampoo bottles and conditioner. Everything goes in a miniature version.
  3. Roll your clothes up. Stacking takes three times as much space.
  4. Fold your bras into each other.
  5. All chargers and other cords go into a packing cube that I just mentioned. Super handy and nothing gets damaged or tangled.
  6. Then there's another big culprit: towels. Just don't take them anymore, okay? It's not necessary at all. Every decent hotel has towels, and if they don't have them, just ask yourself if you really want to sleep there.
  7. Do you still want to take a towel? Then opt for a hamam towel. These are compact and quick-drying. For the beach, the hamam towels XS are really fantastic. Rolled up, they take up no more space than a pair of socks.
  8. Always take a few books on vacation? Switch to an E-reader or if you, like me, want to have a ‘real’ copy in your hands: the Dwarsligger. Ten minutes to get used to it and then you'll never want anything else.

Finally, take an extra set of clothes and socks for the plane and my mint green SUITSUIT and I will get through the summer. Yay!
