New Kid on the Amayzine Block: meet Lynn

1. Where can we know you from?

‘When I was introduced to the subject ‘Creative Writing’ during my Communication studies, I started a little blog. This received such a good response from my family and friends that I decided to do more with it. Instead of blogging on the site, I wrote longer copy under my Instagram photos (@lynnvandevorst). Two years and 37,000 followers later, I reach a super fun group of people every day and, partly because of this reach, cool things come my way.’

2. What is the most enjoyable thing you have been able to do because of this?

‘The two campaigns I got to do for Kilroy (travel agency) during my trip through Australia and New Zealand are almost unbeatable. For my first month in Australia, I set out as a content creator. For a month, I trekked across the outback in a camper van. Then, for Kilroy, I showcased New Zealand's most beautiful route on my own page.’

3. Absolute favourite dish

‘My version of a Mexican salad I can eat at any time of the day.’

4. Everyone has a few, but what is your guilty pleasure?

‘I hang from this kind of thing. Let me start with the fact that I am the only person in the Netherlands who prefers YouTube to Netflix. I use as an excuse that it has to do with my concentration span while vlogs by Monica or Nienke also easily top 45 minutes these days. ’Joe.'

5. With the lovely evening approaching: give us a peek at your wishlist.

‘On my ‘dream may’ list at the moment are: a Céline bag, all Charlotte Tilbury make-up (plus a course on how to apply it somewhat decently), M2K TEKNO trainers by Nike and a room in Amsterdam.’

6. What is your biggest nightmare of all?

‘A year and a half ago, I used to live in Amsterdam. Then I contracted a phobia of mice with the result that I am sometimes startled by my own shadow.’

7. Your number one favourite holiday of the year?

‘There, my birthday (26 September) is number one by far. Sounds fairly narcissistic and maybe it is, but I can enjoy that so much. Especially because I usually turn it into a birthday week or weekend. Nice cooking for my family, drinks with girlfriends, confetti, treats, presents, garlands, singing. Love it.’

8. What do people not expect from you?

‘Instagram can make a person's life look very princess-like. Every day nice packages arrive, you get to go to cool events and you always have a polished face. Yet on the contrary, I am super down-to-earth and very practical. I don't feel too good for anything.’
