Now available at IKEA: relationship therapy

Ikea. The yellow and blue warehouse has not earned the nickname ‘the divorce palace’ for nothing. Not only because you can buy your new furniture cheaply when your spouse has run off with your best friend, but especially because many couples leave here in a huff.

Just as you are putting together your new Ektorp, your husband has to shove his second hotdog down (because shopping on an empty stomach is not a good idea). And after you finally reach the exit and your partner has filled the cart with all those unnecessary knick-knacks, daim cakes, and Swedish meatballs, the real fun is yet to begin (you with the instructions, him with the screws and bolts). Ikea America has a solution for this and has set up the first ‘Relationship Saving Station’ in California. A place where couples can retreat for a moment when they can't agree on what color that Mostorp should be. At the Saving Station, five ways are offered to cool off. There is a corner where you can write away your frustrations, you can beat up a pony-sized beast, or make your love laugh by dressing up. I think it's brilliant. We are eagerly awaiting the first Hilarious Dutch Heibel Hut.
