RTL Late Night breaks up with Humberto

No, no, now! A first reaction. What news, so early on this icy morning. Icy news, even. Humberto is leaving RTL Late Night. No, stronger still: he has to leave.

And well, Humberto has been RTL Late Night for many years. He makes the program what it is. That man can really interview and create a pleasant atmosphere. So it's a bit of a shock for the loyal viewers. Last night, Humberto himself announced the news during the broadcast. He stated that he will no longer be seen as the presenter of Late Night starting from the new season in September. His successor is already known: it will be Twan Huys. He will start focusing on the new direction the program wants to take. Because things need to change, especially now that the ratings have not been fantastic lately.

Humberto: “I have made RTL Late Night with a lot of passion and pleasure for five seasons. A great adventure during which I have had the privilege of hosting special national and international guests. The large number of loyal viewers in the first years and the various television awards were a strong confirmation for me and my team that we have developed a good format with RTL Late Night.”

“Unfortunately, we have not succeeded in maintaining these numbers in the last year. Therefore, I understand well that RTL chooses a different path,” he says sadly. “With a heavy heart, I say goodbye to a program that has given me so much. I look back with pride and forward with confidence.” In the episode, Humberto makes it clear that this is certainly not his own choice. The choice has been made for him by RTL. “A decision by the channel management that I do not agree with.” He shares this with emotion. It affects him and it affects the viewer.

Since August 2013, the program has been on late at night on RTL. And it will be a bit strange, you know, to see someone else take over the baton. What Humberto will do now is not yet known.
