That's why you are so disgusted by the hair in your shower drain

There are very few things in life that I truly find disgusting. For example, I cringe when I find someone else's hair in my food or with people who forget to freshen up their armpits. But what really makes me gag are hair clumps in the shower drain. Quite strange actually, because normally they are your own hairs and maybe those of your partner or housemate, mixed with shampoo or a little shower gel. Why is it that we are so repulsed by this?

On average, we lose between 40 and 120 hairs a day. Of course, these are replaced by new hairs; just imagine if it were otherwise. When washing and rinsing, even more hairs come loose, resulting in a full shower drain. You have a problem with it, I have a problem with it, but why do we find it so disgusting?

Yes, we have another little phobia (number two in my case); fear of hair, also known as chaetophobia. This is a phobia that occurs more often than you think. Either you find hair loss (whether it's from your colleague or your own cat) intensely disgusting, or it can even be so bad that you become afraid of it.

No panic, girlfriend, you can just plop down in the talking chair for this. In fact, you can even go to therapy for it. According to Bernard Vittone, director of the British Centre for Phobias, Anxieties and Depression, our aversion to hair in the shower is likely related to the common fear of bacteria and contamination or when you (like me) have a little OCD issue. town.

But girlfriend, no panic. There are many worse phobias of which you probably didn't even know existed. So it's really not that bad for us.
